With an international entertainment legend and multi-award-winning performance artist at the helm, Dolly Parton sets the bar extremely high for Dollywood’s live entertainment. The theme park’s live shows are the most award-winning of any theme park in the world. Accolades include:
- Four Golden Ticket Awards (presented by Amusement Today magazine, the leading trade publication of the theme park and amusements industry) for Best Shows (2009-2012)
- 21 International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions (IAAPA) Brass Ring Awards for Excellence in Live Entertainment, honoring excellence, creativity and achievement in live entertainment production. Dollywood has won more than any other theme park in the world.
- Four consecutive IAAPA Heartbeat Awards (2006-2009) for Dollywood’s original stage productions Dreamland Drive-In (2006, 2008), The Great American Country Show, and Sha-Kon-O-Hey! Land of Blue Smoke. The Heartbeat Award is presented to the show that demonstrates the most “heart” in its production.
In 2013, Dollywood’s new entertainment offerings include spellbinding circus acts, a completely new version of the 2007 Heartbeat Award-winning The Great American Country Show, a nightly fireworks extravaganza, and an all-new adaptation of A Christmas Carol featuring original music by Parton.
Cirque Shanghai—March 23-April 22, 2013
Steeped in the traditions of the ancient lands of East Asia, the magnificent Cirque Shanghai combines traditional and modern Chinese acrobatics alongside amazing displays of physical strength and incredible feats of balance. This heart-pounding production mixes graceful folkloric pageantry with beautifully costumed performers and a visual feast of breathtaking white-knuckle stunts. A show of fast-paced contemporary dance, Cirque Shanghai stars award-winning circus and acrobatic talent. Critics have described it as “amazing to the extreme!”
Dolly’s Nights of Many Colors during The Great American Summer—June 22-Aug. 4, 2013
Summertime means more time to enjoy Dollywood during The Great American Summer. Extended park hours (10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily) provide the perfect occasion to celebrate summer with Dolly’s Nights of Many Colors. Synchronized to music throughout the park, the spectacular nightly fireworks display features Paint Your Dreams across the Sky, a musical crescendo written specifically for the occasion by Dolly.

To heat up the summer stage, Dollywood and GACTV collaborate to bring this fast-paced 40-minute cutting-edge show to Dollywood. Surrounded by towering video screens, six performers and a live six-piece band take audiences on a high-energy musical journey exploring today’s country music. GAC's most popular on-air personalities appear via video-tape while each show also includes an appearance by a special guest artist. Country music fans know that country music is about them--their lives, their loves, their struggles and their triumphs. The Great American Country Show is about everything that fans embrace. It's about America! It's about country! And that's what makes it GREAT!

On Dolly’s incredible journey from Locust Ridge, Tenn., to stages around the world, family has been her common thread. My People—Dolly’s Letter Home celebrates the family who inspired Dolly to achieve her dreams. Her family gave her the strength to leave home the morning after graduation and head for Nashville to pursue her destiny. Dolly’s family nurtured and encouraged her. In Dolly’s words, “With the love of your family, all things are possible.” My People—Dolly’s Letter Home features her brother Randy and sister Cassie along with several other family members who share songs of the family’s strong faith, their deep love for the Smoky Mountains and their steadfast belief in their sister Dolly.

Dollywood’s A Christmas Carol brings a never-before-seen adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic to the stage of DP's Celebrity Theatre. Set amid lavish Victorian scenery, the classic story of redemption and hope is underscored by seven powerful new songs written by Dolly especially for this 45-minute musical. For the first time ever in theme park history, cutting-edge holographic technology brings Dolly to the stage in a very special role as the Ghost of Christmas past in this heartwarming musical that follows the inspiring and powerful transformation of Ebenezer Scrooge.
