As the weather gets cooler in the Smoky Mountains and the leaves begin to change, so do the colors of candies eaten to celebrate the season. Although there are many flavors of the fall season- there’s one candy in particular that everyone knows. This candy is vibrantly orange, yellow and white, tastes like creamy fondant, warm vanilla and a hint of honey and isn’t always the crowd-favorite: candy corn. No matter the side you are on, Dollywood’s Harvest Festival Presented by Humana (Sept. 12 – Oct. 27) is taking the candy staple and turning it into a new family experience.
Dollywood’s Country Fair transforms into Candy Corn Country. After an area farmer planted a few seeds of corn, carrots and more, the fun had by Dollywood guests in Country Fair turned the seeds into candy corn! Not only will candy corn be growing on vines, but families can stop to admire the candy corn people that have made Candy Corn Country their home during the Harvest Festival. Each has a unique personality, and guests won’t be able to miss them as several candy corn people stand nearly six feet tall. On the way to Candy Corn Country, make sure to stop and grab a refreshing Candy Corn Punch at Crossroads Funnel Cakes to enjoy.
Stalks of (candy) corn will be growing throughout Candy Corn Country, but make sure not to pick them yet as they are still growing. The stalks grow best when they are surrounded by fun, preferably direct fun. Once you are inside Candy Corn Country, make sure to have as much fun around the candy corn stalks as possible. Not only will guests find candy corn growing, candy corn carrots, candy corn tomatoes and candy corn pumpkins also may be found growing from the soil.
The average candy corn contains 30% yellow, 45% orange, and 25% white but it needs 110% fun to grow. Surrounded by all the colors of fall (and candy corn), guests can find all of Dollywood’s classic attractions to help you bring that fun to life. After all the fun of Candy Corn Country, stop by Miss Lillian’s BBQ Corner to pick up a Corn Rib or Jalapeno Cheddar Sausage with Corn Salad to nibble on and reminisce on the fun memories created in Candy Corn Country.
Outside of Dollywood’s Candy Corn Country, there will be 700 live performances throughout the festival, Harvest-themed treats and more. There are so many opportunities for fun, just make sure to let the candy corn people know how much fun!
