As we got settled into our seats for the Gazillion Bubble Show, I struck up a conversation with the lady sitting behind me. She was with another gentleman, but they didn’t have any children around them. “You will absolutely love this show!” she told me. “Oh really?” I asked. “What makes it so special?”
“Everything about it is incredible! I actually work here at Dollywood, and I’m here on my day off to see this show! The things he can do with bubbles are amazing!”
I knew right then that I was in for a treat.
Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Summer Celebration contains so many fun things for kids to do around the park. When you hear about the Gazillion Bubble Show, you might be tempted to think, “That will be great for my kids,” but don’t be fooled. The Gazillion Bubble Show is as amazing for adults as it is for children. I don’t want to give too much away, but here are four reasons why this big kid loved it.
I found myself asking that question a lot during the show! Whether it was creating bubbles inside of bubbles, adding smoke to a bubble, creating a bubble the length of the stage or any number of incredible bubble tricks, I found myself in a constant state of amazement. And often after asking “How did he do that?!” it was followed by “That’s incredible!”
Trust me, this is not just watching a person create bubbles on a stage. The show includes lots of energizing music and light effects that keep the audience engaged from the moment the show begins. You immediately are clapping and cheering along before the first bubble ever appears. As the show progresses, there are some amazing light sequences that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
I am not sure I would have first thought of this show as heartwarming, but there were so many moments that brought out that feeling. Seeing children from the audience coming up on stage with a huge grin was priceless. Listening to Deni Yang, the host of the show, share stories of how bubbles and imagination can be a magical combination was truly uplifting for me. It reminded me of how we as adults can get so caught up in the practical that we forget to have a childlike imagination for the possible! In addition, seeing the wonder on my own children’s faces as they took everything in was a special moment I will always remember.
At different points throughout the show, the entire theater is full of bubbles. Fans of all ages can agree that seeing a room filled with bubbles is pretty spectacular! The lights and music add to the wonder and awe of the moment. I found myself doing the same thing as my children, watching bubbles land on my hand and seeing how many I could pop!
